At the beginning of April, Riga will become one of Europe’s financial technology hubs, bringing together more than 2,500 investors, entrepreneurs, and blockchain professionals from around the world. On April 1–2, "UN:BLOCK Europe 2026" will take place at Hanzas Perons in Riga (16A Hanzas Street) — one of the largest Web3 and fintech conferences in Northern Europe.
The first day of the conference will be free of charge thanks to the support of the Latvian Investment and Development Agency (LIAA).
From Mastercard to Crypto Industry Leaders
This year, around 100 industry professionals will speak at the conference, with representatives from approximately 400 companies across more than 40 countries expected to attend.
Participants will include representatives from international companies such as Mastercard, Kraken, Gravity Team, Sorainen, and World Liberty Financial — a digital finance project associated with the Donald Trump family — represented by Ryan Fang.
What Will UN:BLOCK 2026 Cover?
This year’s conference program will focus on topics that could significantly transform the financial industry in the coming years:
- Real World Assets (RWA) and asset tokenization
- Stablecoins and digital payments
- European MiCA regulation
- Blockchain integration into traditional finance
- Artificial intelligence in the financial sector
“Stablecoins are currently transforming international payment systems. Today, a cross-border transfer, for example from Latvia to the United States, can take several days and pass through multiple banks with high fees. With stablecoins, such payments can be completed almost instantly and at significantly lower cost.”
— Reinis Znotiņš, Executive Director of the Latvian Blockchain Development Association
He adds that real-world asset tokenization (RWA) is also becoming increasingly important, allowing digital ownership of a portion of a real asset, such as real estate. Major financial players including BlackRock and NASDAQ are already actively working in this direction.
Two Stages and High-Level Discussions
The conference program will be divided across two parallel stages. One will focus on blockchain and Web3 technologies, while the other will focus on fintech, regulation, cybersecurity, and the role of artificial intelligence in finance.
The program will also include discussions between policymakers and industry leaders on the future and regulation of digital assets in Europe.
“The political discussion will be particularly important because the industry is growing rapidly, while opinions in the political environment still vary. The discussion will help clarify how Latvia sees the future of this industry — as an opportunity or as a risk.”
— Reinis Znotiņš, Executive Director of the Latvian Blockchain Development Association
Why Is This Important for Latvia?
UN:BLOCK Europe 2026 is not just a conference — it is a platform that helps Latvia strengthen its position on the global fintech map. Organizers emphasize that an event of this scale can help attract new technology companies and investment to Latvia.
Latvia already hosts more than 120 fintech companies, and the sector continues to attract international investors. The MiCA regulation also makes Latvia an attractive market for companies from the United States and other countries.
“We are already seeing companies from Hungary and Lithuania choosing to obtain licenses in Latvia. Companies from the United States, Australia, and Turkey are also applying for European MiCA licenses in Latvia. This could create highly paid jobs and increase tax revenue.”
— Reinis Znotiņš, Executive Director of the Latvian Blockchain Development Association
